State Climbs To No. 13 In USA Today/WBCA Coaches Poll

STARKVILLE, Miss. – A day after climbing three spots to No. 11 in the Associated Press poll, the Mississippi State women’s basketball team made an identical leap to 13th in Tuesday’s USA Today/WBCA Coaches Poll.
The Bulldogs’ three-spot leap came a day after Vic Schaefer’s squad achieved its highest ranking since 2002-03.
Mississippi State earned its 13th-straight week in the coaches poll thanks to a 57-55 win at Alabama that ran the Bulldogs’ record to 25-4 overall and 10-4 in SEC play.
Sunday’s win set the school single-season wins record, while its 10 league victories tied the 2002-03 squad for the most in school history.
South Carolina, MSU’s opponent Thursday in Columbia, stayed at No. 2 in this week’s poll. Tip for that contest is set for 6 p.m. CT on Fox Sports Net South.
Tennessee held at No. 6, while Texas A&M climbed to No. 12. Kentucky slipped five places to 15th.
