The Bulldogs (12-15, 5-8) dropped a 65-61 decision against No. 18 Arkansas on Saturday and are looking for another strong performance against their second-straight ranked opponent. Craig Sword tallied 15 points in the contest, leaving him 3 points shy of 1,000 for his career. Gavin Ware added 13 points and 9 rebounds.
Throughout the campaign Ware is pacing the Maroon and White with 10.2 points and 7.4 rebounds. In conference play, Sword has provided the team with a spark, averaging 13.4 points per game.
The Wildcats (27-0, 14-0) come to Humphrey Coliseum atop the national rankings. They are paced in scoring by freshman guard Devin Booker (11.0) and sophomore guard Aaron Harrison (11.0). The duo of freshman forward Karl-Anthony Towns and sophomore forward Willie Cauley-Stein provide 6.4 and 6.3 rebounds per game, respectively.
In its last outing, Kentucky downed Auburn in its highest scoring performance this season, 110-75. Towns led the way for the Wildcats with 19 points and 10 rebounds, while Aaron Harrison added 18 points of his own.
Last season, the Bulldogs and Wildcats met twice, with Kentucky taking both meetings. Mississippi State fell 85-63 in Lexington and then 69-59 in Starkville. Kentucky has now won seven straight in the series after MSU took three straight in 2007 and 2008.
