Warren Tabbed SEC Offensive Player Of The Week

STARKVILLE, Miss. – In her final match as a Bulldog, Alex Warren went out on top in the stat sheet and the win column. On Monday, she was recognized for her dominating play by being named SEC Offensive Player of the Week, the league announced.
The Mississippi State senior was awarded the weekly honor after totaling 43 kills, 5 blocks and 1 ace for a total of 47.0 points in victories against LSU and Ole Miss. Warren’s 25 kills and 27.0 points against MSU’s in-state rivals set new career highs and helped seal the Bulldogs’ first winning season since 2006. 10 of those kills came in the fourth and final frame of the match, marking the second time this season Warren has tallied double-digit kills in a set.
Her performances secured MSU’s first three-match winning streak in conference play since 2007. The Bulldogs also earned back-to-back victories against Ole Miss for the first time since 2009 and consecutive home wins against LSU for the first time in school history.
With the standout performance on Friday, Warren became the first player since Kimmy Gardiner in 2013 to record at least 25 kills and a match. Her 27.0 total points were the most since Gardiner tallied 29.0 in 2013 against UAB.
Warren ended the week hitting above a .300 clip and scoring at least 20.0 points in three-straight matches. With her 25 on Friday, Warren earned at least 20 kills in two of the final three matches of the season. She put together 21 at Georgia on Nov. 22, setting a career high for kills in a three-set contest.
On the year, Warren led the Bulldogs in kills in 15 matches, a team high. She finished her final season with 371 kills (3.47 kills/set), 25 aces and 65 total blocks for a total of 432.5 points.
The San Antonio, Texas, native wrapped up her Bulldog career with 889 kills, 25 aces, 232 blocks and 1,052.0 total points.
Warren's honor gives MSU their first SEC weekly honor since Bali Leffall-Young was named co-SEC Defensive Player of the Week last year. It is MSU's first SEC Offensive Player of the Week honor since Taylor Scott was named in 2013 and only the third such honor in school history.
