MSU Has 38 Student-Athletes Earn Degrees Following Spring Semester
STARKVILLE, Miss. – When Mississippi State University held commencement exercises for the spring semester, 38 student-athletes officially earned their degrees.
Eleven student-athletes graduated with honors, including six that earned Magna Cum Laude status: Carson Britton (track & field), Katie Huston (track & field), Jessica Offutt (softball), Alex Scott (volleyball), Rica Tse (women’s golf) and Kylie Vry (softball).
Track & field’s Philip Johnson, men’s tennis player Malte Stropp and softball’s Rachael Zdeb claimed Summa Cum Laude honors, while men’s golf’s Joe Sakulpolphaisan and track’s Michael Clark graduated Cum Laude.
In addition, 42 student-athletes were named to the President’s List for the Spring semester. The men’s track and field squad led the way with seven 4.0s: Sam Cox, Johnson, Andrew Monaghan, Marshall Nunn, Carl Pittman, Zachary Taylor and Matt Weickert.
Football had six players named to the President’s List: Nick Fitzgerald, Damien Robinson, Mason Ross, Evan Sobiesk, Baker Swedenburg and Nickoe Whitley posted 4.0s for the Bulldog football team in Spring, while men’s tennis players Rishab Agarwal, Florian Lakat, Stropp and Egbert Weverink joined them.
Baseball placed Preston Brown, Seth Heck, Merrill Ingram and Glenn Irby on the list, while Offutt, Alison Owen, Vry and Zdeb earned the distinction from the Bulldog softball team.
Women’s track athletes Carmen Brothers, Cornelia Griesche, Shelvia Gross, Madison Milhoan and Sydney Rodkey were named to the President’s List along with five soccer Bulldogs: Morganne Grimes, Amy Hoover, Tiffany Huddleston, Meme Huff and Mary Kathryn Taylor.
Women’s tennis had three President’s List recipients: Roseline Dion, Timea Guibe and Naomi Tran.
