Women's Hoops To Hold Awards Banquet Tuesday

STARKVILLE, Miss. – Celebrate Mississippi State’s stellar 2013-14 women’s basketball season with the program’s awards banquet Tuesday, April 15, in the Leo Seal Jr. Football Complex.
The event begins at 6:30 p.m., and tickets cost $25. Fans are asked to RSVP via e-mail (dbrown@athletics.msstate.edu) or phone (662-325-0198) by noon Monday.
Complimentary valet parking will be available for attendees.
Mississippi State ended its second season under head coach Vic Schaefer with a 22-14 record and a run to the quarterfinals of the WNIT in its first postseason appearance since 2009-10.
The Dawgs claimed the fourth-most wins in program history and claimed three postseason victories for the first time.
The Bulldogs, who finished the year 12th in the nation in turnover margin (+5.3), set new school records for points scored (2,551) and rebounds (1,410).
MSU’s 70.9 points per game and 347 steals were the most since the 2002-03 campaign, while the 571 offensive rebounds were the program’s best since the 1977-78 season.
MSU also set new school bests at the free-throw line, knocking down the second-most free throws in the nation (705) while attempting the most (997).
The Bulldogs shot 70.7 percent from the stripe for the second consecutive year, marking the first time the team has made 70 percent or better two-straight seasons since the 2002-03 and 2003-04 campaigns.
