Bulldogs Down Northwestern State In Spring Soccer Action

STARKVILLE, Miss. – Mississippi State soccer picked up its first victory of the spring exhibition slate Saturday as it knocked off Northwestern State 1-0 at Freedom Ridge Park in Ridgeland.
Rising senior Shannen Jainudeen netted the winner, and the Bulldog defense made it stand en route to pitching the shutout.
It’s been quite the start for Jainudeen, as the goal was her second in as many games. She scored State’s goal in a spring-opening setback at Samford in March.
“We’ve played really well in the first two matches this spring, and Shannen Jainudeen has been outstanding for us,” MSU coach Aaron Gordon said. “We want to thank the great crowd that came out to watch us play in Ridgeland last Saturday. We hope to have another good turnout Sunday as we play a talented Southeastern Louisiana squad.”
Sunday’s kick against Southeastern Louisiana at Freedom Ridge Park is set for 1 p.m. The Bulldogs will sign autographs for fans following the match.
State will host two free exhibitions this spring. Head coach Aaron Gordon’s squad meets Georgia State April 6 in an 11 a.m. kickoff at the MSU Soccer Field.
The Bulldogs wrap the spring slate at 7 p.m. Thursday, April 10, taking on SEC foe Alabama to kick off Super Bulldog Weekend presented by Regions.
