I can’t express how excited and proud I am that Mississippi State will once again be an NCAA Regional host, continuing our respected baseball tradition, and I know Bulldogs everywhere feel the same. Congratulations to Coach Cohen and the entire baseball program for earning this reward for a great season, and good luck as the postseason begins and hopefully continues. It’s both an exciting and busy week on campus, and I recommend you bookmark our one-stop page with all the information needed for the weekend at www.HailState.com/NCAAbaseball.
GENERAL PUBLIC REGIONAL TICKETS AVAILABLE NOW
All reserved seating is sold out, but tickets for non-season ticket holders are available now with general admission for a weekend booklet at $50. Individual game tickets can be purchased for $10 on the day of the game. For our students, tickets may be purchased at the ticket office beginning today for only $5. Given our outstanding habit of filling the stadium so full, it may be wise to make ticket plans in advance of the weekend. Visit HailState.com/tickets, call 1-888-GODAWGS or stop by the ticket office to get you and your family prepared. We estimate actual seating at Dudy Noble to be 12,000. After we've reached that number in attendees, general admission tickets are standing room with no guarantee of field views.
SIX SEC HONORS FOR DIAMOND DAWGS
I’d like to congratulate our many Bulldogs who made All-SEC teams this week, with a big pat on the back to senior infielder Sam Frost, who was named the SEC’s Scholar Athlete of the Year. It can sometimes be easy to forget the student part of student-athlete, and Sam has been the model of what we at MSU love to see. Examples of our success on the field and respect throughout the conference, Ferriss Trophy winner Hunter Renfroe and sophomore closer Jonathan Holder were named first-team All-SEC by the coaches, while newcomer Brett Pirtle made the second team and Team USA member Adam Frazier was named to the all-defensive team.
TRACK AND FIELD BULLDOGS HEAD TO NATIONALS
Over the weekend, Coach Dudley’s track and field team had a very successful outing in North Carolina at the East Preliminaries and Bulldogs will be competing in eight different events at Nationals in Oregon June 5-8. Just on the final day of action at preliminaries, All-American Marcus Jackson tied for first in the high jump, while both the men’s and women’s 4x400 relay teams placed high enough to advance to the next round, including a second place finish by our men.
INDIVIDUAL TENNIS CONCLUDES
Coach Nilsson’s tennis team produced yet another outstanding season, finishing at No. 11 in the country and reaching the Round of 16, while many individuals continued play last week. Congratulations to the doubles team of Malte Stropp and Jordan Angus, who advanced to the Round of 16 in the individual championships.
FIRST EVER TWEETUP ON FRIDAY
When you come to town this weekend, make plans to join us from 5-6 p.m. before the Bulldogs begin at 7 for the first-ever Mississippi State tweetup. We’ll be setup between The Hump and Dudy Noble, giving out prizes, chatting on twitter and hanging out to talk with anyone who feels like stopping by. For more information, visit our page for the event.
NCAA REGULATIONS IN PLACE FOR REGIONAL
A quick reminder that Regionals are NCAA events which are hosted by the schools. As such, we ask that you adhere to the NCAA Division I Baseball Committee’s policies which do not allow artificial noisemakers – including cowbells – or alcoholic beverages in the stadium. Under these guidelines, all bags and coolers brought to Polk-Dement Stadium are subject to search.
We appreciate what you do for Mississippi State Athletics and want to encourage you to get others involved. There are three things you can do to help the athletic department at Mississippi State reach its desired goals –
1. Buy Season Tickets
2. Financially Support the Bulldog Club
3. Get Others To Do The Same
Thanks for taking the time to read this Update.
Hail State!
