School officials announced Monday that the auction of 24 maroon “Boston tribute” hats worn by the Bulldogs during MSU’s nationally-televised April 18 baseball game with Auburn, raised $25,441. The proceeds from the auction go to the fund established to assist the victims of the April 15 bombing and their families.
The hats were produced by adidas and delivered to Starkville, Miss., in less than two days and just in time for State’s appearance on the SEC Thursday Night Game of the Week series televised by ESPNU. In a joint venture of the Mississippi State University Athletic Department, Bulldog Sports Properties and NeuLion, the hats were made available to fans through an on-line auction. Bidding for the hats closed April 26.
The 15th-ranked Bulldogs (33-13/10-11 SEC) open a three-game series against SEC West rival Alabama (27-18/11-9 SEC) Friday at Dudy Noble Field. The 6 p.m. game will be televised nationally by ESPNU.
