Bulldogs Sign Top-Ranked JUCO Player In Sakulpolphaisan

Chanat (Joe) Sakulpolphaisan, a sophomore from Darton (GA) College, joined Florence, Ala., native Ben Wood in the Bulldogs' 2012 recruiting class.
"We are excited that Joe is joining the Bulldog family," Homan said. "He is a part of an outstanding signing class and brings a level of talent and experience that we are looking for. We can't wait for him to wear Maroon and White."
Sakulpolphaisan, originally from Chon Buri, Thailand, has been ranked atop the NJCAA rankings virtually the entire 2012 season. GolfStat.com has had Sakulpolphaisan as the No. 1 ranked NJCAA individual golfer since winning the season opener back in September. The Thailand native established himself as the nation's best after winning five tournaments this year. He never finished outside the top seven all year long and was named to the Golf Coaches Association of America All Region First Team for the Cavaliers.
Sakulpolphaisan, who has a scoring average this year of 70.3, played 17 tournament rounds this semester and has shot over par on just three of them. His scoring average is nearly a full stroke better than anybody else in the nation.
Last season as a freshman, Sakulpolphaisan was named NJCAA First Team All-American after he finished the year with a runner-up showing in the 2011 NJCAA Division I national championship in Odessa, Texas.
In addition to his standout junior college career, Sakulpolphaisan won the Thailand Junior National Championship before starting his college career at Darton.
This week, the Bulldog signee will lead Darton into the 2012 NJCAA national championship in Newton, Kan.
