Diamond Dogs Take On Delta Devils Tuesday At Dudy Noble
It's the third meeting of the season between the Diamond Dogs and the Delta Devils. State registered 13-5 and 5-1 wins over MVSU on the second weekend of the campaign, extending MSU's all-time lead in the series to 22-0.
Tuesday's game will be broadcast locally only on WKBB-FM (100.9) and offered online as a subscription-based audio streaming (www.HailState.com/hstvlive).
State freshman Will Cox (2-1, 4.74) has been tabbed for his sixth start of the campaign. The right-hander from Amory, Miss., made his MSU debut Feb. 26 in the second MSU-MVSU matchup of the season, earning his first career win after registering eight strikeouts over seven innings, both season-bests.
Sophomore shortstop Adam Frazier (.357) paced the Bulldogs at the plate in the past week, collecting five hit scoring five runs and drawing nine walks. He reached base via a walk or hit on his first eight plate appearances and in his first three games last week reached safely 14 times in 15 plate appearances.
Mississippi State resumes SEC competition on the home turf this weekend, playing host to defending SEC tri-champion and 2011 NCAA College World Series entrant Vanderbilt in a three-game Easter weekend series. Game times are set for 6:30 p.m. Friday, 2 p.m. Saturday and 1:30 p.m. Sunday.
