Lady Bulldog Tennis Set To Host No. 7 Georgia Friday
STARKVILLE, Miss. - Mississippi State's Lady Bulldog tennis will host its first weekend of conference play this spring beginning with a Friday match against No. 7 Georgia.
Friday's match is set to begin at 2 p.m. at the A.J. Pitts Tennis Centre. The match could be relocated indoors to McCarthy Gymnasium in the event of inclement weather.
The Lady Bulldogs enter the contest at 4-5 overall and 0-2 in Southeastern Conference play. Alexandra Perper for Mississippi State is currently ranked No. 91 in the nation will come into the Friday match standing at 8-1 overall and 1-1 in SEC play this spring.
The Lady Bulldogs of Georgia will enter into Friday's match standing at 11-2, 1-1 in SEC play. Chelsey Gullickson, a senior for UGA is currently ranked No. 11 in singles, and freshman Laruen Herring stands at No. 56. The two post a combined singles record of 23-6. Georgia also boasts the nation's No. 6 doubles team in Gullickson and Nadja Gillchrist.
Last season, Georgia defeated Mississippi State 6-1 in Athens.
Following Friday's affair, State remains at home Sunday to welcome eighth-ranked Tennessee at 1 p.m.
