Louis Cant Nominated For SEC's McWhorter Post-Graduate Scholarship

STARKVILLE, Miss. - The Southeastern Conference office announced Friday that Mississippi State senior tennis player Louis Cant has been nominated for the SEC's H. Boyd McWhorter Scholar-Athlete Post-Graduate Scholarship.
Cant was nominated along with former MSU soccer player Kim Pettit. Other scholarship nominations were baseball's Caleb Reed and softball's Misty Flesher as prospects for the league's Brad Davis Community Service Post-Graduate Scholarship.
Cant has posted the most career (76) and dual-match (47) wins by any player on the current MSU squad and has earned as high as a No. 36 national singles ranking and seventh in doubles. This season, Cant has earned a 14-2 dual-match record while recording a 4-2 slate in SEC play.
In his career in the Maroon and White, Cant is a two-time All-SEC Academic Honor Roll honoree and ITA Scholar Athlete. Last spring, Cant was selected to the All-SEC Second Team.
A member of the Capital One/CoSIDA Academic All-America All-District Team, Cant will earn a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology degree in the fall of 2012.
The McWhorter Scholarship is presented annually to the league's top male and female scholar-athletes.
