Bulldogs Look To Qualify For Nationals At Last Chance

"Our vision of consistently improving has not changed, and for that to happen we have to be out there competing" coach Steve Dudley said. "The more we compete the better we can become and the better we become the more we improve our chances of accomplishing the ultimate goal."
Making the trip to the Birmingham Crossplex will be Cowards who will defend her SEC title in the weight throw, as well as fellow field athlete Erica Bougard who will compete in the high jump. Bougard will also compete in the 60-meter hurdles along with teammates Brittney Covington, Raquel Farquharson and Keisha Wallace. Rounding out the Lady Bulldog contingency will be Candice Polk who will take her turn competing in the 60-meter dash.
Joining the Maroon and White women in Alabama action will be a quartet of Bulldogs comprised of Ed Wesela in the shot put, Nathan Arnett, Michael Hancock and Trevarus Christian who will all compete in the 60-meter hurdles. Christian will also compete in the high jump and long jump.
While the above mentioned athletes are competing in Birmingham, another group of athletes will compete in the Notre Dame Last Chance Qualifier. Making the trip to Ind., will be Jody-Ann Muir who will compete in the 400-meter dash. Muir is the lone female making the trip, but she will be joined by male 400-meter counterparts Tavaris Tate, Randy Patterson and Daundre Barnaby. Along with 400-meter competition, Tate will also take a turn competing in the 4x400-meter relay with Barnaby and fellow teammates James Harris and Emanuel Mayers. Completing the roster of athletes who will travel to Indiana is D'Angelo Cherry who will navigate the course in the 60-meter dash.
Following Last Chance Qualifier action, MSU will get the chance to realize their goal of a National Championship as the NCAA Championships begin March 9 in Boise.
