Weather Forces Friday Schedule Changes For Tourney At Dudy Noble

The Lipscomb University-University of Connecticut game, originally set for a 2:30 p.m. Friday start, has been reset for an 11 a.m. start, while first pitch for the Mississippi State-Connecticut game has been moved to 2:30 p.m. It was originally scheduled for a 6:30 p.m. start. Schedule changes will be posted on the MSU Athletics Department web site, www.HailState.com.
The 11 a.m./2:30 p.m. game schedule for both Saturday and Sunday remains in place. The Dudy Noble Field ticket office and stadium gates open at 10 a.m. Friday and at 9 a.m. both Saturday and Sunday.
Sophomore Ben Bracewell (0-0, 0.00) is set to draw his third start of the campaign for State (6-2) in MSU's Friday afternoon opener against Connecticut (2-4). Lefty Brian Ward (2-0, 1.26) is due to open on the hill for the UConn Huskies.
The Bulldogs won all four games of last weekend's double round-robin tournament at Dudy Noble Field, sweeping Kansas 1-0 and 3-1 and Mississippi Valley State 13-5 and 5-1.
Friday's tournament-opener launches a 21-game March schedule for the Bulldogs, who are nearing the midway point of their season-opening 17-game homestand. State entertains first-time foe Penn State of the Big Ten Conference in 6:30 p.m. contests Tuesday and Wednesday and then welcomes Mercer to campus for a homestand-ending three-game weekend series.
