Bost, Moultrie Are Finalists For Howell Trophy
The award, named after former Bulldog great Bailey Howell, will be presented on Monday, March 5 at the Mississippi Sports Hall of Fame and Museum in Jackson.
The third finalist is Southern Mississippi's Neil Watson.
For Bost, it's his third straight year to be a finalist.
"It's a great honor," the senior guard from Concord, N.C., said. "There are a lot of great players in Mississippi. It's something that means a lot."
This season, Bost is third on his team and fifth in the SEC in scoring with his 15.9 clip. He also leads the SEC in assists (146) and steals (62). Earlier this year, he became MSU's all-time assists leader.
Moultrie, a Memphis native playing his first year after transferring from UTEP, is fourth in the SEC in scoring at 16.0 points an outing, while his 10.7 rebounds and 16 double-doubles are tops. Nine times this year he's scored 20-plus points, and each time the Bulldogs have won.
Against Eastern Kentucky in the season opener, he became the first Mississippi State player to record a double-double in his debut since Lawrence Roberts in 2002-03.
"It's always nice to be recognized for your hard work," the junior forward said.
