Student Season Tickets On Sale August 27

STARKVILLE, Miss. - The Mississippi State athletic department, in conjunction with the Student Association, announced today 2011 football student season ticket sales will begin Saturday, August 27. Ticket sales will take place from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Davis Wade Stadium ticket office.
The Junction will open - as it does on a football home game weekend - at 5 p.m. on Friday, August 26, and The Student Association is finalizing plans for several forms of entertainment to take place in The Junction that evening.
"We want to make it an exciting kickoff event for students," student association president Rhett Hobart said. "With the home schedule not beginning until week 3, this will be an informal student season opener and a chance for everybody to get together before the season begins."
Ticket packets, at a cost of $35, will be available for purchase only to a student account. Starkville-campus students must have a valid student I.D. and an account in good standing (without administrative holds).
"Student tickets have traditionally gone on sale beginning on a Monday, but overwhelming demand and a desire to avoid conflict with class schedules made us think about the process and how to make it better," director of athletics Scott Stricklin said.
Moving student season ticket sales from the Bryan Building ticket office to the Davis Wade Stadium location will allow several additional windows to be operated at one time in a location central to campus.
"In the past, we've operated a remote ticket site in the Colvard Student Union, and while that added to the convenience for students, it wasn't ideal," Stricklin added. "This will allow us to accommodate more students with better parking and hopefully turn it into a great event for the students.
The Bulldogs open the 2011 season on September 1 at Memphis and will play their first home contest on Thursday, September 15 against LSU
