MSU Travels To Ole Miss For Mississippi Open
The Bulldogs enter the meet ranked No. 7 in the latest USTFCCCA poll and after combining with the Lady Bulldogs to post 14 victories and set 10 personal records at last week's Jace Lacoste Invitational.
Highlights for the Mississippi Open include MSU's 2nd and 3rd ranked sprinters Tavaris Tate and D'Angelo Cherry as they compete in the 400m and 200m dashes respectively, along with the No. 6 ranked James Harris in the high jump. The Bulldog relay squads are always fun to watch, and this week should be no different as the 4x400m and 4x100m teams look to improve on their 3rd and 6th place rankings.
In addition, keep an eye on ranked Lady Bulldog athletes Jody-Ann Muir in the 400m dash and Jessica Merriweather in the high jump; as well as Keisha Wallace in the 100m hurdles and Haley Greenwell in the distance competitions as they both strive to break into the Top 25 rankings.
Other Lady Bulldogs to watch are MSU all-time triple jump leader Rochelle Farquharson, Talisha Lee, who ranks first all-time at MSU in the 400m hurdles, and Favian Cowards, who is third all time at MSU in the hammer throw.
Action begins at 9 a.m. with the men's hammer throw, while running events start at 11:00 a.m. with the women's 3000m steeplechase.
