MSU Golf Drops Inaugural Egg Bowl Scramble
MADISON, Miss. - Ole Miss edged Mississippi State to win the inaugural Egg Bowl Scramble here Tuesday at Reunion Golf and Country Club, as part of the sponsorship media day for the upcoming BancorpSouth Intercollegiate to be held April 4-5 at Reunion.
The Rebels tallied a 678.81 to the Bulldogs 682.9 to win the trophy and $2,000 to the golf program. Mississippi State received $1,000 for their program. The four-person teams comprised of a player and or coach from each university with members of BancorpSouth and their customers.
"No matter which school won, the goal for BancorpSouth is to support education," said David Barrrentine, the Mid-Mississippi Region President for BancorpSouth. "Other sports often take the lion's share of recognition, and we wanted to make sure these scholar-athletes got their own moment in a well-deserved spotlight."
Earlier in the day, BancorpSouth held a press conference to promote the upcoming BancorpSouth Intercollegiate, which will feature 15 teams from around the Southeast, including all four Division I schools in Mississippi, Ole Miss, Mississippi State, Southern Mississippi and Jackson State.
