State Women's Tennis To Host Louisiana-Monroe

"Our girls are coming off a very big weekend," coach Daryl Greenan said. "Picking up those two wins last weekend was huge for the confidence of our girls, especially our freshmen. I am glad to see us ranked again and hope to see everyone out at the courts tomorrow."
Last weekend, the Lady Bulldogs picked up two solid non-conference wins over Southern Miss. and Troy. During their match against the Lady Golden Eagles, MSU swept the board in singles play where they overpowered USM on all six courts.
Lady Bulldog freshman, Alexandra Perper, recorded a 4-0 weekend where she competed at the No. 1 spot in both doubles and singles play. Also, freshman Vivian Pietraroia is on a three-match winning streak, dating back to her singles victory against Georgia State, February 11.
After an early Fall injury, MSU junior Olesya Tsigvintseva returned to action for the Lady Bulldogs competing mostly on court 4. Tsigvintseva has posted a 2-1 record so far this Spring and was the match clinching point over the Trojans last Sunday.
ULM comes into Sunday's match on a seven-match winning streak and an 8-1 overall record. The Lady Warhawks' only loss went to Southern Methodist who was then ranked 27th nationally. The Lady Bulldogs have so far dominated the affair over Louisiana-Monroe as they have posted a 14-8 overall record. MSU is 5-0 over ULM since 2003.
