Gallagher Wins Furman Junior Classic
Greenville, S.C. - Mississippi State incoming freshman Mary Langdon Gallager was victorious again on Wednesday as she shot her way to victory at the Furman Junior Classic at the Furman University Golf Course in Greenville, S.C.
As part of the Southeastern Junior Golf Tour, Gallagher shot consecutive rounds of 75 to edge her way to a 3-stroke win. Through tough weather conditions on the par-72 course, Gallagher maintained a one-stroke first-round lead to hang on for the win.
A graduate of Pillow Academy in Greenwood, Miss., Gallagher had two top-three finishes in her 2009 high school season, competing against all-male teams. Gallagher also claimed the MPSA Girl's Overall State tournament title in 2009 after ranking third in the event in 2008. She followed by winning the Mississippi State Amateur earlier this month at the Reunion Golf and Country Club in Madison, Miss.
