Memphis Prep Standout Sydney Knose Joins Volleyball Bulldogs

STARKVILLE, Miss. --- Mississippi State University volleyball coach Jenny Hazelwood has announced the addition of outside hitter Sydney Knose of Germantown, Tenn., to the MSU volleyball team for the upcoming 2010 season.
"Sydney is a solid all-around player that will add depth to our roster in a number of ways," said Hazelwood. "She is also a great competitor and we can't wait to get her, along with all of our players, in the gym for preseason practice in August."
Knose was a four-year varsity starter and all-state volleyball standout at Memphis' St. Agnes Academy from 2006-2009. She paced the St. Agnes Stars in kills as a senior, helping lead coach Ryan Wallace's team to a 30-11 finish and a berth in the Tennessee Division II-AA state quarterfinals. She was one of five finalists for the Memphis Commercial Appeal's 2009 Best of the Preps Award. A three-time selection for all-region and team MVP honors and a two-time team captain, Knose capped her prep career earning first-team 2009 Tennessee Sportswriters Association Division II All-State honors.
A veteran of 10 seasons of competitive club volleyball, she has been a starter the past three years on the Memphis Juniors National Team coached by Angela Floyd.
Knose is the daughter of Phyllis and Joe Knose of Germantown, Tenn. She joins four previously announced newcomers on the Bulldogs' 2010 volleyball roster --- freshman libero Iwa Belisario of Ankeny, Iowa, freshman outside hitter Dani McCree of Rialto, Calif., freshman setter Paris Perret of Frisco City, Texas, and junior middle blocker Hannah Wilkinson of Elk Point, S.D., a transfer from BYU-Hawaii.
