Bedell Takes Part In BCA ACE Program

Starkville, Miss. - Mississippi State Women's Basketball assistant coach Franqua Bedell recently traveled to Indianapolis, Ind. to participate in the Black Coaches Association's Achieving Coaching Excellence (ACE) program.
As one of 24 men's and women's minority coaches invited to participate in the program which ran from June 15-18, Bedell participated in sessions aimed at building a professional profile, improving interview skills, managing media messages, managing career objectives as well as participating with on court demonstrations.
"This was just an unbelievable experience, learning about professional development and relationship building," said Bedell. "I was fortunate to be selected to this program and put in a position that opened my eyes to so many things. Not only was I able to gain knowledge on the court, I was able to learn things off the court and about myself. I want to thank the BCA, the NCAA, Coach Fanning, Scott Stricklin and all of the participants of the program that supported me."
The mission of the ACE program is to promote the collegiate athletic coaching profession to ethnic minority basketball coaches and identify, recruit and retain ethnic minorities in the collegiate coaching profession. Also, the ACE program serves to provide professional development strategies for collegiate ethnic minority basketball coaches and enhances leadership skills.
