MSU Signee Daryl Norris Named Gatorade Alabama Player Of The Year

STARKVILLE, Miss. - For the second consecutive year a Mississippi State University baseball signee has been honored as the Gatorade Alabama Baseball Player of the Year.
Daryl Norris, who helped lead coach Stu Fuller's Fairhope High School Pirates to a 35-9 record and a berth in the AHSAA Class 6A state semifinals, is this year's recipient. The 6-1 right-hander starred on the mound at Fairhope HS, compiling an 11-2 record with a 2.31 earned run average while registering 108 strikeouts in 78-2/3 innings. Norris, who also played four different infield positions, batted .444 with 67 runs scored, 65 RBI, 13 doubles and 11 home runs.
Pitcher Luke Bole, who just completed his freshman season at Mississippi State, was named last year's Gatorade Alabama Baseball Player of the Year after concluding his prep career at Hartselle High School.
The Gatorade Player of the Year program is in its 25th year and annually honors one winner from the District of Columbia and each of the 50 states that sanction baseball and assorted other high school sports.
Norris is now a candidate for the Gatorade National Baseball Player of the Year award.
