Stratton Earns SEC All-Freshman Team Honors

STARKVILLE, Miss. --- Mississippi State pitcher Chris Stratton has been named to the 2010 Southeastern Conference All-Freshman Team, the league announced Tuesday afternoon.
The right-hander from Tupelo, Miss., compiled a 5-3 record with a 5.29 ERA and staff-leading totals in pitching starts (14), innings pitched (78.1) and strikeouts (76). Stratton earned three wins in four SEC decisions in 2010 and was one of only two SEC rookies to start all 10 weekends of the conference season.
Stratton led the league's freshman pitchers in conference play with 55 strikeouts. His league wins came at South Carolina, against
Tennessee, and at LSU. Earlier this week he was honored as the SEC Freshman of the Week after tossing seven innings of three-hit, shutout baseball in MSU's season-ending 2-1 win at LSU last weekend.
Stratton becomes the third Mississippi State baseball player to earn SEC All-Freshman Team honors, joining 2007 honoree Connor Powers and 2009 selection Nick Routt.
