Connor Powers Among Three Finalists For Ferriss Trophy

STARKVILLE, Miss. -- Mississippi State senior first baseman Connor Powers has been named a finalist for the 2010 Cellular South Ferriss
Trophy. The award, which honors to top collegiate baseball player in Mississippi, is chosen by a panel of professional baseball scouts, collegiate head coaches and a media representative. The award, in its seventh year, will be presented Monday, May 24 at 6:30 p.m. in the Bologna Performing Arts Center in Cleveland, Miss.
Joining Powers as finalists are Ole Miss Pitcher Drew Pomeranz and Southern Miss pitcher Todd McInnis.
The Naperville, Ill., native leads Mississippi State with a .380 batting average, 76 hits, 15 home runs, an SEC-leading 66 RBI and 35
walks. He stands fourth at State with 53 career home runs and sixth with 204 RBI in 197 career games played.
Former Bulldogs Thomas Berkery (2006) and Edward Easley (2007) are previous recipients of the award, named for former Delta State head coach and Boston Red Sox and Mississippi State pitching standout David "Boo" Ferriss.
