Set For Saturday Scrimmage, Dogs Put In High-Energy Work

STARKVILLE, Miss. - Simply because Saturday marks what Head Coach Dan Mullen told his team was "the most import practice of the spring so far" doesn't mean the Bulldogs took Friday off. Actually, Friday's work was as high-tempo and intense as the team has worked all spring.
Following Thursday's return to fundamentals, Friday's practice in shoulder pads and shorts focused mainly on the passing game. Both the offense and the defense struck for several big plays, but both sides were pushed to increase the tempo of practice at every turn.
"I liked our energy and tempo today," Mullen said. "I liked it last Saturday (during the team's first scrimmage) too. But tomorrow needs to be better. When we go to the stadium, the intensity, physicality, all of it needs to jump another level."
Saturday's scrimmage begins at 10 a.m. at Davis Wade Stadium, and marks the first time the Bulldogs will be in pads on Scott Field since a 41-27 win over their rival last November.
