Bulldogs Return To Work, Russell Sees Majority Of First Team Snaps
STARKVILLE, Miss. - After reviewing the film from Saturday's scrimmage, head football coach Dan Mullen was only reaffirmed of his original analysis - the quarterbacks played very well. So well in fact, the Bulldog offense switched up quarterbacks during team drills for the first time this spring. Redshirt freshman Tyler Russell worked with the first team while junior Chris Relf saw a majority of time with the second unit.
"Tyler had a really good day throwing the ball on Saturday, so we wanted to see how he handled working with the first unit," Mullen said. "At the same time, we wanted to see how Chris responded and how he works with the younger guys, being a teacher out there. Both of them did a good job today."
Elsewhere on the practice field Tuesday, the Bulldogs spent time finishing its installation portion of spring practices.
"Today was the last day of installing, just a few things," Mullen said. "Everything is in that we're going to put in until the fall, now we've got to make sure we're executing."
The team will have meetings and film study tomorrow before returning to the practice fields on Thursday. A large number of high school coaches from around the Southeast are expected to be in attendance Thursday, as the Bulldog coaching staff hosts its annual high school coaches clinic.
