MSU Soccer Adds Myranda Hill to Coaching Staff
STARKVILLE, Miss. – Mississippi State head soccer coach Neil Macdonald has announced the hiring of Myranda Hill as an assistant coach with the Bulldogs. The hiring is pending the approval of the Board of Trustees, Institutions of Higher Learning.
Hill comes to Mississippi State after a one-year stint as an assistant coach at Northwestern (La.) State. During the 2009 season, Hill helped guide the Lady Demons to an 11-9 record. NSU scored 36 goals last season while posting 10 shutouts.
“I’m extremely excited to be joining the Mississippi State family. I’m thankful for the opportunity to be here coaching in the Southeastern Conference,” Hill said. “The talent level here is extremely high, so I’m excited to have the opportunity to help build that talent on a daily basis. It’s going to be a great opportunity to learn from Neil (Macdonald) and Andy (Manners). I look forward to helping this program in any way I can.”
The stint in Natchitoches, La., was her second at the school as she served as a graduate assistant from 2003-2005. In her return to Northwestern, Hill assisted in the preparation of all training sessions and helped organize recruiting among other tasks.
“Myranda is an outstanding young coach, and we are excited that she is joining our staff here at Mississippi State,” Macdonald said. “Our players will benefit from her tremendous knowledge of the game. She is a highly-regarded young coach who will be a tremendous asset to our program.”
Hill spent the 2006-08 seasons coaching the East Texas Spirit club team. Her first taste of Southeastern Conference soccer came in 2005 when she served as an intern at Auburn. Hill helped the Tigers with player development and goalkeeper training while assisting in on-campus recruitment.
During her first tenure in Natchitoches, Hill helped Northwestern State to a second-place Southland Conference finish in 2004.
Hill, an NSCAA-licensed coach, worked numerous camps and training academies and coached the Cookeville United Soccer Club U14 team after wrapping up a stellar playing career at Tennessee Tech.
While at Tennessee Tech, Hill was a Dean’s List selection while enjoying an on-field career that saw her claim numerous awards and rank among TTU’s career leaders in consecutive games played.
Hill capped her senior campaign by earning all-tournament honors at Northwestern State. That award came a year after she was named to the Ohio Valley Conference all-tournament team. In 2000, the Tyler, Texas, native led the Golden Eagles to the Ohio Valley Conference tournament championship.
During her freshman season in Cookeville, Tenn., Hill claimed second-team All-Ohio Valley Conference honors.
