Men's Track Team Moves To No. 11 In USTFCCCA Polls

STARKVILLE, Miss. - After a record-setting weekend at the Texas Relays in Austin, the Mississippi State men's track team moved to No. 11 in the Division 1 national team rankings, the USTFCCCA announced Tuesday.
The Top 3 did not change, as Florida is still ranked No.1 followed by Texas A&M and Oregon.
"We feel good about our ranking," head coach Al Schmidt said. "Our goals are definitely higher than that, but it's still early in the season, and we still have a lot of work to do."
MSU has a number of athletes ranked in the Top 10 in their individual events. Sophomore D'Angelo Cherry remains the highest ranked Bulldog, with a No. 2 ranking in the 100-meter dash. In the 400-meter dash, Tavaris Tate and Dwight Mullings are No. 3 and No. 6, respectively. 400-meter hurdler Emanuel Mayers holds the No. 7 ranking, and the MSU relays are No. 5 (4x100-meter) and No. 7 (4x400-meter relay).
The Lady Bulldogs have yet to break into the Top 25, but senior All -American Wendy Copeland holds the No. 10 ranking in the long jump.
MSU track teams continue with the 2010 season this weekend at the Ole Miss Invitational Saturday.
