MSU Track Teams To Compete At Ohio State And Ole Miss Saturday

STARKVILLE, Miss. - To close out what has been a record setting regular outdoor track and field season the Mississippi State track and field teams travel to two separate events Saturday. MSU will send its men's and women's 4x400-meter relay teams to the Jesse Owens Track Classic hosted by Ohio State University and the rest of the teams will compete at the Mississippi Open in Oxford.
"This is an important weekend for our teams to get their last set of good marks before going to SECs," head coach Al Schmidt said.
The men's 4x400 relay, O'Neal Wilder, Dwight Mullings, Emanuel Mayers, are entering this weekend after winning the Championship of America relay title last weekend at the Penn Relays. The team also currently is ranked No.6 in the nation in the event. In addition to running the relay, Mulings will run the 100-meter dash, Tate will run the 400-meter dash and Wilder will run the 20-meter dash.
"This is a great meet for us to run well in," Schmidt said. "Last weekend was a big win for us, and hopefully we can do that again here this weekend."
The Lady Bulldogs are also set to compete in the 4x400-meter relay while at Ohio State. In addition to the relay LaQuinta Aaron will run the 100-meter hurdles and throw the shot put, while Jody-Ann Muir will run the 400-meter dash and Taneisha Baker will run the 200-meter dash.
At the Mississippi Open State track teams hope to fair well in an array of events. MSu has runners in almost every event in the one day track meet. Competition in Oxford at 10 a.m.
