MSU Women's Tennis Set For Easter Sunday Match With Tennessee

STARKVILLE, Miss. - Fresh off a near upset of 13th-ranked Georgia on Friday, Mississippi State's 72nd-ranked women's tennis team (9-8, 1-6 SEC) sets its sights on No. 14 Tennessee this Easter Sunday at the A.J. Pitts Tennis Centre. Match time is slated for 1 p.m. CT.
On Friday, MSU battled back to tie a close match at 3-3 with a talented Georgia squad, when the contest came down to the final court and senior Valeriya Makarycheva. It was an intense affair throughout, but Makarycheva took a tough double-tiebreaker loss to put the final at 4-3 in UGA's favor.
State now faces a Tennessee team that is coming off a loss to 35th-ranked Ole Miss in Oxford. The Lady Vols lost the contest 5-2, giving them just their second conference defeat of the season.
Following Sunday's match, Mississippi State returns to the road and travels to Alabama to take on the Crimson Tide and the Auburn Tigers next weekend.
