State Women Host No. 17 Rebels In Final Home Match For Two Seniors

STARKVILLE, Miss. - Seniors Radka Ferancova and Valeriya Makarycheva step on the court for the final time at the A.J. Pitts Tennis Centre Saturday morning, when Mississippi State's women's tennis team (9-11, 1-9 SEC) plays host to 17th - ranked Ole Miss (13-4, 7-3). Match time is slated for 11 a.m. CT.
Amidst Super Bulldog Weekend festivities on campus, fans are encouraged to come out and pay tribute to two very special seniors. Between doubles and singles, MSU head coach Daryl Greenan will lead a presentation to honor the two players.
Ferancova and Makarycheva have led this Mississippi State team throughout the 2010 season. The senior combo has combined for 16 victories in singles, while Ferancova has garnered a team-high 12 doubles triumphs to go along with Makarycheva's 10 wins in that category. Both have helped state to nine overall wins this season, including a seven-match win streak midway through the season.
Ole Miss comes into Saturday's affair looking for a first-round bye in next week's SEC Tournament. The Rebels have a talented team with three players ranked in the ITA Rankings. UM is led by 62nd-ranked Kristi Boxx and No. 95 Karen Nijssen, who also team up to make the team's top doubles tandem with a No. 13 overall ranking.
The Lady Bulldogs are hoping to break a seven-match SEC losing streak, and avenge last season's 4-0 loss to the Rebels. Following Saturday's contest, MSU heads to the SEC Tournament in Athens, GA.
