Lady Bulldogs Travel To Tuscaloosa For SEC Championships

STARKVILLE, Miss. - The Mississippi State women's golf squad will begin postseason play Friday in the SEC Championships. The event will be played on the course of the NorthRiver Yacht Club in Tuscaloosa, Ala.
The Southeastern Conference boasts several nationally ranked teams including no. 7 Alabama, no. 11 Florida, no. 14 Tennessee, no. 16 Georgia, no. 19 LSU, no. 24 Vanderbilt and 3 others ranked in the top 50 according to Golfweek.com.
Seniors Gina Sharp and Leigh Phillips will be participating in their final events of their proud MSU careers. Junior Erika Thornton will continue her streak of starting in every college tournament of her MSU career. Also competing will be fellow junior Mallory Batson and sophomore Perry Katherine Furr.
"NorthRiver Golf Course is in very good shape which will more than likely produce some very low rounds," MSU coach Christi Sanders said. "We look forward to getting the tournament underway and getting off to a good start on Friday."
Mississippi State's Lady Golfers will begin play at 8:30 a.m. CT on Friday, compete in round two on Saturday and wrap up play on Sunday. Live stats available at www.mstateathletics.com.
