Lady Bulldogs Travel To Oxford For Rebel Intercollegiate
OXFORD, Miss. - Just one week after playing in the Liz Murphy Collegiate Classic, the Lady Bulldogs will be participating in their third tournament in a month with the Rebel Intercollegiate. SEC rival Ole Miss hosts the 54-hole event on their own Ole Miss Golf Course from April 2-4.
Junior Erika Thornton will lead the Maroon & White back into action off her spring-best 239 at last weekend's Liz Murphy Classic. Also competing are junior Mallory Batson, senior Gina Sharp, sophomore Perry Katherine Furr and freshman Morgan McQuary. Senior Leigh Phillips will be competing as an individual.
"It will be nice to compete close to home," head coach Christi Sanders said. "We welcome all MSU fans in the area to come out and support us this week."
The tournament field of 20 consists of several regional opponents including host-school Ole Miss, Southern Miss, East Tennessee State, Middle Tennessee State and No. 27 Tulane. The Big 12 Conference will represent a few teams, most notably No. 18 Texas A&M.
Tournament play tees off at 8:00 a.m. Friday, with Saturday and Sunday's action also beginning at 8 a.m. Live stats available at www.mstateathletics.com.
