MSU Hires Brown-Lemm As Women's Golf Coach

STARKVILLE, Miss. Mississippi State University Director of Athletics Greg Byrne announced Wednesday the hiring of Ginger Brown-Lemm as its new head women's golf coach, beginning with the 2010-11 season. The appointment requires approval by the Board of Trustees, Institutions of Higher Learning.
Brown-Lemm comes to Starkville from Arkansas State University, where she has served as head women's golf coach for the past two-plus years. She is a 13-year, PGA class "A" professional and a former all-conference performer at the University of Texas who also played professionally on the Futures Golf Tour.
In just her first one and one-half seasons, she improved Arkansas State's team scoring by 12 shots, and this fall, her team had top six finishes in five of the six tournaments played. Two of her players recorded individual medalist titles. In its first spring tournament, the Red Wolves finished fifth out of 16 teams at the Claud Jacobs Intercollegiate in Victoria, Texas.
Prior to accepting the position at Arkansas State, Brown-Lemm was assistant golf professional and teaching professional at The Woodlands Palmer Course in Texas, and Longhills Golf Club in Benton, Ark. She has also served as the Executive Director and PGA Head Golf Professional with the Jack Stephens Youth Golf Academy in Little Rock. It was during that span of time she was recognized as one of the "Top 40 under 40" among Business and Community Leaders, by Arkansas Business, and by running a "Top 5 Model Junior Program" by Golf Digest magazine.
Other non-playing or coaching appointments include: Tournament Director of the inaugural Buy.com Arkansas Classic on the PGA Tour (2001), First Assistant Golf Professional at Diamante Country Club in Hot Springs Village, Ark. (1999-2000), and Head Golf Professional at the Balboa Golf Course in Hot Springs (1993-96).
A native of Hope, Ark., and a 1990 Texas graduate, Brown-Lemm will succeed Christi Sanders, who announced her retirement earlier this year as Mississippi State women's head golf coach. Brown-Lemm and her husband Floyd have two children: Parker (12) and Paige (10).
