Rack Named Finalist For 2010 Gillom Trophy

STARKVILLE, Miss. - For the second consecutive season, Mississippi State senior Alexis Rack has been named a finalist for the Gillom Trophy which honors Mississippi's top collegiate female basketball player. Rack, the recipient of the 2009 Gillom Trophy, is one of three finalists again this season.
The Franklin, La. native has averaged 17.2 points a game this season, leading the Lady Bulldogs. Rack is averaging 3.2 three-pointers a game which ranks eighth nationally. Earlier this season against Maryland, Rack posted a career-best 43 points which tied for fourth for the highest point total ever by a Lady Bulldog. Most recently Rack became the SEC's all time leader in career three-point attempts and now has 1,035. Rack is now second in SEC history in career three's made with 331. She is six shy of tying LSU's Cornelia Gayden who holds the record.
Rack is now third all-time in scoring at Mississippi State with 1,713 points, ranking behind former State All-
Americans LaToya Thomas and Tan White. She is the career leader at Mississippi State in three-point field goals made, three-point field goals attempted and ranks second in most three-point field goals made in a game. With 99 three-point field goals this season, she is State's single season record holder, breaking her own mark she set last season with 86 threes. She now has 89 games of double digit scoring, 20 20-point games and five 30 point games.
Rack and the Lady Bulldogs return to the court tonight in the second round of the NCAA Tournament as they face Ohio State with a trip to the Sweet 16 on the line. Tip time from the Petersen Events Center in Pittsburgh, Pa. is set for 6 p.m. CT and will be televised by ESPN2.
