State Women's Tennis Set For Final Non-Conference Match

MIAMI, Fla. - In search of its ninth non-conference win of the season, Mississippi State's 54th-ranked women's tennis team (9-4, 1-3 SEC) travels to Miami, Fla. to take on No. 41 Florida International (9-6) Saturday morning. First serve is slated for 10 a.m. CT.
Florida International will be the seventh ranked opponent MSU has faced this season. The Lady Bulldogs are 2-4 against teams in the ITA Rankings. Meanwhile, FlU and Mississippi State have faced two common opponents this season. Both squads defeated Louisiana-Lafayette, while both took tough losses to seventh-ranked Miami.
Mississippi State is looking to build off a strong showing against Florida Gulf Coast on Wednesday. In that match, the Lady Bulldogs took straight-set wins at five of the six singles positions, while sweeping through the doubles courts to take a 6-1 triumph.
Florida International is coming off a strong upset win over then 24th-ranked Yale last Saturday. The Panthers used a win at court No. 6 to break a 3-3 deadlock, and take a 4-3 victory.
Following Saturday's match, MSU returns to SEC action to take on Florida next Friday, March 26th, at the A.J. Pitts Tennis Centre. Match time between the Lady Bulldogs and Gators is scheduled for 2 p.m. CT.
