MSU Women's Golf Club Set For LSU Tiger/Wave Classic

State's lineup includes senior Gina Sharp and junior Erika Thornton. Sharp, returns to play after leading the team with a score of 238 in the Kinderlou Forest Challenge. Thornton continues her streak in competing in every tournament since joining the Maroon & White. Rounding out the team will be senior Leigh Phillips, junior Mallory Batson, both regulars in the fall, and freshman Maria Roos.
Competition will be the stiffest that the Lady Bulldogs will face all season. Third-ranked Auburn, fourth-ranked Purdue, eighth-ranked Alabama, 11th-ranked Tennessee, 15th-ranked Georgia and 20th-ranked LSU will be competing as well as 10 other squads also ranked in the Top 50. The highly competitive field also boasts 10 Southeastern Conference schools.
"The team is excited about going to New Orleans and competing at English Turn Golf & Country Club," MSU coach Christi Sanders said. "We used to travel to Baton Rouge but the LSU University Club is under renovation so LSU and Tulane paired together to host this large field of highly ranked teams."
First round action will begin Friday with an 8 a.m. tee off. Saturday's round will also begin at 8 a.m. while Sunday's action will start at 8:30 a.m. Live stats will be available at www.mstateathletics.com.
