MSU Women's Tennis Hosts Pair Of Weekend Matches

STARKVILLE, Miss. - Mississippi State's women's tennis team (5-1) welcomes Louisiana-Lafayette (2-2) and Southern Mississippi (4-5) into the A.J. Pitts Tennis Centre for a pair of weekend home contests this Saturday and Sunday. The Lady Bulldogs go against Louisiana-Lafayette Saturday at 1 p.m. CT and Southern Mississippi at 1 p.m. CT on Sunday.
MSU is currently ranked 69th in the latest ITA Rankings and is looking to win its fifth-straight match of the season. In its last outing, Mississippi State won a tight 4-3 contest over Tulane. In that affair, the Lady Bulldogs fell behind early, but were able to take singles wins at courts two, four, five and six to pick up the victory.
Senior Radka Ferancova has been instrumental in this strong start for the Lady Bulldogs. Playing primarily at the No. 2 position, Ferancova leads the team with a 5-1 record in singles. Meanwhile, teammate Natalia Mayuk has been equally impressive with her 5-1 record.
Following play this weekend, Mississippi State will open up SEC play next week. The Lady Bulldogs host Kentucky next Friday, March 5 at 2 p.m. CT. Admission to all MSU home matches is free.
