State Women's Tennis Welcomes ULM Sunday

STARKVILLE, Miss. - Back for its third-straight home match, Mississippi State's 62nd-ranked women's tennis team (3-1) returns to the A.J. Pitts Tennis Center Sunday afternoon to take on Louisiana-Monroe (3-0). Match time is slated for 1 p.m. CT.
The Lady Bulldogs are off to a strong start in the 2010 season, with a 3-1 record and wins over two-ranked opponents (College of Charleston and Georgia State). Thursday, Mississippi State was dominant in a 5-2 victory over Samford. In that match, State took wins at every position except the No. 1 and No. 6 singles courts.
With a 6-2 combined record, senior Radka Ferancova and sophomore Natalia Mayuk continue to lead the team in singles. Ferancova has been solid at the No. 2 position all season, while Mayuk has seen time at the No. 3, 4, and 5 courts.
Meanwhile, Louisiana-Monroe has three wins on the year against Southern, Lamar and Alcorn State and is led by Lena Satge at the No.1 singles position, who has a 2-1 record this season.
Following Sunday's match, Mississippi State returns to the A.J. Pitts Tennis Center later this week when it hosts Tulane on Thursday, Feb. 25. That contest is slated for a 2 p.m. CT start.
