Parks Earns CRSCL Player Of Week Honors

STARKVILLE, Miss. - Mississippi State junior infielder Jarrod Parks (Madison, Miss.) has opened summer league competition with a bang, hitting at a .452 clip and earning Cal Ripken Senior Collegiate Baseball League player of the week honors for the opening week of the 2009 summer campaign.
The former Meridian (Miss.) Community College and Madison Central High School product collected a team-leading 14 hits and a CRSCL-best 12 RBI in helping the Bethesda (Md.) Big Train to a league-leading 9-2 start. Parks leads the league with 12 runs scored, two home runs and a.739 slugging percentage.
Parks beat out another Bulldog player with the Big Train, junior outfielder Luke Adkins (Nettleton, Miss.), for the weekly honor. Adkins has compiled a .364 batting average with 11 RBI through the first 11 games.
