Six MSU Thinclads Tabbed USTFCCCA All-American

On the men’s side, freshman D’Angelo Cherry and Junior Dwight Mullings received all-American status in two events. Cherry, a native of
Justin Christian and John Bailey joined them on the 4x100-meter relay team, which finished fourth at the NCAA Outdoor Championships this past weekend after clocking a school-record time of 39.06
Also tabbed all-American was sophomore Emanuel Mayers, who garnered his accolade following his time of 50.06 in the 400-meter hurdles.
On the women’s side, senior Marrissa Harris of
She scored the Lady Bulldogs’ lone point at the NCAAs, where she finished eighth in the 100-meter hurdles. In the heptathlon, she placed 10th with a school-record 5,625 points, breaking her old mark of 5,600 set in 2008 when she won the SEC title.
“These awards were earned for what they did on the track,” said Schmidt, whose men’s team finished tied for 17th at the NCAAs. “No one votes on them. You have to go out and earn them yourself. I’m very proud of each one for what they accomplished. They are all very deserving and great ambassadors for our university.”
