MSU Men's Track Team Signs National Indoor 400-Meter Champion

STARKVILLE, Miss. ? Mississippi State men’s track and field associate head coach Steve Dudley announced the signing of Daundre Barnaby, of Hartford, Conn., to a national letter-of-intent.
Barnaby comes to State from Weaver High School in Hartford, Conn., under the direction of coach Lee Hunt.
“I am extremely excited about Daundre joining our Bulldog track and field family,” Dudley said. “Daundre is one of the top 400-meter runners in the country and only has been running for just over a year. The sky is the limit for Daundre and adding a student-athlete of his caliber only makes the sky the limit for our program as well.”
Barnaby won the National Scholastic Indoor Championship 400-meter dash title March 15, in Elmhurst, N.Y. Barnaby ran 47.12 seconds to win the title, and will begin competing for the Bulldogs during the 2009-10 season.
“MSU is getting a very outstanding young man and athlete,” Hunt said. “I think Daundre made a very good choice in continuing his academic and athletic career at Mississippi State. I know he made the right choice because of the dedication its staff ahs to their athletes.”
Barnaby chose Mississippi State over LSU, Connecticut, Boston University, Nebraska and North Carolina.
“I’m very excited about coming to Mississippi State and doing great things while I’m there,” Barnaby said. “I chose MSU because Coach Dudley really showed me that I could do well both academically and athletically under his guidance.”
