Two MSU Men's Tennis Athletes Earn All-SEC Accolades

STARKVILLE, Miss. ? The Mississippi State men’s tennis team had two athletes earn all-Southeastern Conference honors following their performance during the 2009 season, as announced by the league office Thursday.

Farlow’s naming to the all-SEC team is added to an already superior resume filled with numerous academic and service honors, including being named MSU’s overall Newsom Award winner among male student-athletes, holding the highest grade point average among his Bulldog peers this year. He has also been named an ITA Scholar Athlete and Academic all-SEC multiple times during his career. He was also recently named a Spirit of State award winner, considered the university’s premier student award.
In addition to Farlow’s honor, true freshman Artem Ilyushin had a solid start to his career with the Maroon and White, earning all-SEC freshman honors based on his performance this season. Playing in the upper half of the Bulldog lineup in his first semester on campus, Ilyushin reached as high as 93rd nationally.
