Players, Booster Member Honored At Women's Basketball Awards Banquet

STARKVILLE, Miss. ? All 14 Lady Bulldog basketball players and one generous supporter were honored at the Mississippi State Women's Basketball annual awards banquet Monday night at the Hunter Henry Center on the MSU campus.
Guard Alexis Rack was awarded the "Big Dawg" Charges and Deflections Award, the Free-Throw Percentage Award and the Most Assists Award. The Franklin, La.,-native shot 83 percent from the free-throw line and totaled 142 assists this season.
Robin Porter was awarded the field goal percentage award and the Best Rebounder Award as she shot 46 percent for the season and pulled down a team-best 199 rebounds.
Armelie Lumanu took home the Best Defensive Player award as she led the team with 70 steals and was second on the team in rebounding with 191 rebounds this season.
The most improved award went to Pontotoc, Miss.,-native Diamber Johnson. A freshman this past season, Johnson averaged 14 minutes a game, scoring four points a contest.
For the second consecutive season, Lauren Roberts was the recipient of the Sonny Mullins Community Service Award. A senior this past season, Roberts was a member of the SEC Academic Honor Roll and was on Mississippi State's Student Athlete-Advisory Council.
The Newsom Academic Award went to Mary Kathryn Govero for her efforts in the classroom while the Heart of a Champion Award was garnered by Channa Campbell.
The Coaches Award was given to each player on the team for their efforts this season.
Serving as the Vice President of the women's basketball booster club this season, Ellen Goodman was honored with the Sixth Player Award, presented annually to those who go above and beyond.
