Bulldogs Adjust To Weather, Practice In Front Of More Than 250 Coaches

STARKVILLE, Miss. ? The Mississippi State football coaching staff welcomed more than 250 high school and junior college coaches to campus on Thursday for its coaching clinic, and the visitors watched as the Bulldogs began practice on the outdoor turf field before heading into the Palmeiro Center after lightning approached the area.
“We were able to get some good work done today,” head coach Dan Mullen said. “We seem to be picking it up, and the effort was really good.”
The Bulldogs practiced in shells (shoulder pads and shorts) working on special teams and individual drills outdoors before heading inside for 7-on-7 and team drills.
“I think having 250 or so coaches in here helped us battle the distractions of moving from outside to inside and we did a good job once we came in here,” Mullen said.
The head coach will put his team through their first back-to-back practices of the spring as the Bulldogs will practice again tomorrow afternoon before a Saturday workout that will feature several scrimmage-like team periods.
