State Women's Tennis Continues Tough Stretch; Takes On Pair Of Ranked Foes

STARKVILLE, Miss. ? Mississippi State’s women’s tennis team (9-5, 0-5 SEC) continues its tough stretch through the Southeastern Conference season, hitting the road to take on two top-20 opponents this weekend.
The Lady Bulldogs face off with 19th-ranked Vanderbilt (7-5, 3-2 SEC) in Nashville, Tenn., at 2:30 p.m. CT Friday, before traveling to Lexington, Ky., to take on the 20th-ranked Kentucky Wildcats (11-5, 2-4 SEC) on Sunday. Match time for that affair is slated for 11 a.m. CT.
MSU comes into the weekend after suffering two 6-1 setbacks to two formidable opponents in South Carolina and Florida.
During those matches, State managed to pick up two wins at the no. 6 position. Senior Daniela Juskova dominated Ashley Miller of South Carolina in a 7-5, 6-2 triumph last Friday. Meanwhile, junior Valeriya Makarycheva ousted Brooke Allen of Florida 6-1, 6-2 in Sunday’s match.
The State doubles duo of Radka Ferancova and Juskova continues to impress in the SEC season. The pair from MSU has picked up two victories in State’s five SEC matches. Ferancova and Juskova defeated Brooke Allen and Barbera Pinterova 8-5 in their last outing.
Vanderbilt comes into Friday’s contest with MSU having suffered a 5-2 setback to Auburn last Sunday, while Kentucky comes in after taking a 4-3 triumph over Alabama in their last outing.
Mississippi State will conclude its 2009 home schedule next Friday, April 10 and Sunday, April 12 when it plays host to Arkansas and LSU. State’s Friday affair with Arkansas is slated for an 11 a.m. CT start, while the match with LSU is scheduled for a 1 p.m. CT start Sunday.
