Mississippi State Track Team Heads To Tuscaloosa For 2009 Alabama Relays

STARKVILLE, Miss. ? After an impressive showing at the Rhodes College Invitational last weekend, Mississippi State's track and field team travels to Tuscaloosa Thursday for the 2009 Alabama Relays at the Sam Bailey Track & Field Complex on the University of Alabama campus.
“This is a big weekend for us,” head coach Al Schmidt said. “We are still trying to figure out where some of our younger kids are, but it is time for our older kids to step up and (regionally) qualify.”
Both the men and women teams begin a four-day stint in Tuscaloosa with opening day events for the heptathlon and decathlon Thursday morning.
“Hopefully the weather will hold up and our multi-event athletes will be able to have a good showing,” Schmidt said. “We really are looking for Marrissa (Harris), LaQuinta (Aaron), Darryl (Brady) and Martin (Lee) to have good qualifying weekends.”
Competition begins Thursday at 9:30 a.m. with the 100-meter hurdles in the heptathlon, and at 11 a.m. with the 100-meter dash in the decathlon.
