Bulldogs Ink Two-Time National Junior College Long Jump Champion

STARKVILLE, Miss. ? Mississippi State University associate head track and field coach Steve Dudley has announced the signing of Jeff Henderson, of Sherwood, Ark., to a national letter-of-intent. Henderson will begin competing for the Bulldogs during the 2009-10 season.
Henderson comes to State from Hinds Community College in Raymond, Miss. Under the direction of Coach Reginald Dillon, Henderson won two NJCAA National Championships in the long jump.
“Anytime you sign a national champion you have to be very excited about the future of your program,” Dudley said. “Jeff is a multi-time national champion that will give our field event group a major boost, and will give us more depth in the sprint events. We are very fortunate to have Jeff come to Mississippi State University.”
Henderson won both the 2008 NJCAA indoor and outdoor long jump crowns. He jumped an outdoor personal-best 25 feet six inches to win the title.
“I’m really excited about coming to Mississippi State,” Henderson said. “I chose Mississippi State because I knew it was a good program, and the coaches were going to make sure I perform well both on and off the track.”
