Diamond Dogs Debut In Rankings At No. 26

STARKVILLE, Miss. - Mississippi State's Baseball Bulldogs made their season debut in the national rankings this week, claiming the No. 26 spot in this week's top 30 poll compiled by Tuscon-based Collegiate Baseball newspaper.
State has won five straight games and seven of eight during their just-concluded eight-game home stand. The final game of the home stand and the last game of a three-game weekend series with Nicholls has been declared a "no contest" by the NCAA and will not count as a forfeit win by MSU. After dropping a Saturday twinbill at Dudy Noble Field, Nicholls departed Starkville prior to Sunday's scheduled 1:30 p.m. start.
Seven Southeastern Conference teams are included in this week's Collegiate Baseball newspaper rankings, including No. 1 LSU (7-0), No. 2 Georgia (8-0), No. 18 South Carolina (4-0), No. 20 Florida (5-3), No. 21 Ole Miss (3-3), No. 26 Mississippi State (7-1) and No. 29 Kentucky (4-2).
Mississippi State departs early Tuesday for Hawaii and a four-game season-first road series against the Rainbows (3-5). The series begins with 10:35 p.m. (CST) contests Thursday and Friday and concludes with games Saturday at 5:05 p.m. (CST) and Sunday at 6:05 p.m. (CDT).
